Sorry London. :( Show Switch May 10

We were very much looking forward to returning to London, Ontario in May to play with our friends in Messes & Miracles for their CD release at Black Shire Pub.  Justin from M&M used to play in the pop-punk band Wishing Well with Stephan out west for many years, so this was going to be a fun reunion of sorts.  Unfortunately, we had to pull out of the show because of conflicting commitments with our current full-band lineup (which we're currently calling Sweet Sparrow Creek, more on that as it develops).  If you are a London, Ontario resident, please check out these great musicians (and vote for them on 98.1FM Under The Covers):  http://981freefm.ca/under-the-covers/vote/  They cover Decode by Paramore, but fully in their own style.  Promises all around to make sure we play together soon!

Instead of heading down to London, we did accept an offer to return to Drums N Flats on May 10th, as a trio, performing 3 sets of classic covers mixed with our originals (some new ones too).  Because DNF is right in our backyard, it made sense to book something there.  We do our best to not switch things around too much, but in many ways, we're still figuring out our purpose, role, vision and trajectory; adjusting as we go, as our path clears, as we inch closer to wherever it is we're going.  The Clearing is turning into more than some buddies playing some tunes for some folks (although that's still the core of it)... we're beginning to envision our role in the new music landscape, and it's exciting and sometimes a little overwhelming.  The Clearing has an exciting summer coming up, please sign up on our mailing list, like us on Facebook, or Twitter.

We are currently booking for parties, weddings, bars, etc.  July and August dates are available.  Hit up the Contact page to get in touch if you have an event or an idea that needs some live music.  Yes, we promote ourselves as an original act, but our bread and butter comes from playing hours and hours of crowd-favourite cover songs, as well as our own stuff.

Love,

The Clearing

Thank you Huntsville! Back July 1st wknd!

Thanks to everyone who came out on Friday and/or Saturday night to see us play at On The Docks Pub in Huntsville, Ontario.  As some of you may know, Hunstville had a rough weekend, with high lake water washing out roads and flooding homes and businesses.  We still had a great time, as we always do in Muskoka County, though we were worried about state of emergency, and certainly our sympathies remain with residents who have a ton of work ahead of them dealing with the cleanup.

We'll be back , Hunstville... for Canada Day long weekend!!!  See you soon.

Our next Toronto show has us returning to our favourite rock n roll wing bar, Drums N Flats (1980 Avenue Rd) on Friday, May 10th.

If you've been following us over the last year or more, then you know we've been recording an EP off-and-on since late 2011.  Progress continues to be slow, but things are sounding better and better every session, with only a couple steps left until we've got some shiny songs to share with you.  In the meantime, we're having a blast writing new material, working with new musicians, playing cover gigs (always a good time) and in general, getting ready to kick it into high gear when the EP is released.

We have added a 30 second teaser of a new song to the bottom of this site, "Hold On Tight", check it out!

Cheers,

The Clearing

March Madness! St. Pat's

Hi guys,

We've posted some more Toronto shows for March, including the first ever St. Patrick's Day Avenue Road Pub Crawl at Drums N Flats and Safari Bar & Grill.  Here's the scoop:  The Clearing, along with Geoff Willingham (of Rebel Emergency) and Nathan Da Silva (of Slyde) will be performing sets at both venues.  There will even be a rickshaw to run revellers back and forth!!  Cool, eh?  Also we're rehearsing some new material with some incredible new musicians, getting ready for release of our new studio recordings, so more on that soon.

St. Patrick's Day
